Meet Stefan Spiby
Owner & Director
Stefan learned his trade locally from school-leaving age, growing up in and around the Bude area. With nearly four decades of hands-on experience in the construction industry — including two years working abroad in Germany — he brings a depth of knowledge and skill that only comes from a lifetime on the tools.
That international experience broadened his understanding of different building methods and materials, which he brought back to North Cornwall. Today, Stefan and his team combine traditional building techniques passed down through generations with the latest modern construction methods and products.
From working with local lime manufacturers for authentic heritage stonework to applying advanced silicone rendering systems and manufactured stone cladding, the range of skills across the team is what sets Spiby Build apart. Whether it's a period renovation, a contemporary new build, or anything in between, Stefan personally oversees every project to ensure it meets the standards his name is built on.

While Stefan leads the business, Spiby Build is very much a team effort. We work with a skilled, reliable group of tradespeople who share our commitment to quality and take genuine pride in their work.
Our team covers a wide range of disciplines — from blockwork and structural steelwork to traditional stone walling, plastering, and specialist rendering. This means we can handle every aspect of a build in-house, maintaining quality control and consistency from start to finish.
Many of our projects involve conversions, extensions, and renovations where attention to detail and respect for the existing building are essential. Our team understands how to work with older properties as well as new builds, adapting their approach to suit the specific demands of each project.
